Dear community,

A rather specifc problem:
My work forces me to use a crappy laptop that I am not allowed to replace or modify internally.
The laptop has USB 2.0 ports and I want to use ReadyBoost (RAM in the machine is a joke, HDD super slow).
Now I heard that
1. USB2.0 sticks do often not use the max. speed possible on the 2.0 port (W:60mb ?!)
2. USB3.0 sticks sometimes perform slower on a 2.0 port than a 2.0 stick would do (despite backwards compatibility).

I was thinking about buying a Patriot supersonic rage USB3.0 (advertised as R:180mb / W:50mb). if I am not wrong, USB2.0 can reach up to W:60mb. So my hope is that the USB3.0 stick at least delivers the 50mb it promises but due to above point 2, I am not sure at all.

Any tips or comments? Am I forced to gamble here?
