I'm using an old motherboard (around 2010), i.e. Foxconn Napa with no USB 3.0 support, neither on the rear I/O, nor front panel header. It just has 4x USB 2.0 ports at the back and support for 4x 2.0 ports on the front. However, I wanted the higher speed USB 3.0 connectivity without having to change the motherboard. Can I use a product like this, with my mentioned motherboard to get the faster USB 3.0 connectivity?

It will work in giving you rear USB 3.0 ports but the front ones are stuck as USB 2.0 and short of replacing the actual ports, can't really be done. You might want to consider getting one...
