I'm playing this game, one piece pirate warriors 3, and I used to run it with my dedicated graphics card on my laptop. however, recently it doesn't work right. when i open the game, it only displays a gray screen; and when i press a button/key, the game is active behind the gray screen (i can hear the bg music and the sound effects).

This happened when I was at my friends house. I opened the game for a while, and it works great. Then I exit the game, to play another game (naruto shippuden ultimate ninja storm 3) with my friend. Then I exit that game, and turned of my pc. Weekend that time when i tried to play pirate warriors 3 again, that's when i found out about the problem.

I thought i was missing some files (I ran a quick virus scan using windows defender before I left my friends house), so i uninstalled and then re-installed the game again. This didn't help.

I didn't knew the problem, so I tried updating my graphics card driver (worked with lag issues in FIFA before), but this didn't help again.

I tried running it with the integrated graphics card that my laptop has, and it works. It doesn't display a gray screen. however, this is very laggy, cause the game is so demanding on graphics.

I was wondering what might be the problem. I am able to run other games with my graphics card though (ninja storm 3, fifa15, nba2k16, robocraft, dragon nest, injustice, rocket league, etc) if anyone can help me, please do, thanks

graphics card: nvidia geforce 840m
driver version (current): 364.72
driver version before problem: 361.91 (or 362.00; or lower, i don't update often)
os: windows 8.1 64-bit

[edit:] I just discovered that I am able to play the game in (almost) full condition using my graphics card, but I only when it's not in full screen
[edit:] I just discovered that when I adjust the resolution of the game higher than 1280x720/768, the problem occurs. Anything lower is fine.

Is Geforce experience used to optimise the game settings?

It used to (before the problem), but now I'm not using Geforce experience to optimize the settings
