At the moment I have a Intel i5 4460 processor and a Radeon R7 260x graphics card. Should i get a GTX 960 4gb or 970, or get a 24inch monitor (my current monitor is 21.5 inch and has a few dead pixels) I also have a ps4 so should i wait until they release a new console to get a graphics card or no point?

Thanks in advance

Wait for pascal to come out and pick up the next gen cards from Nvidia this summer, as for a new monitor, make sure to get one with G-sync, once you go G-sync, you'll never go back.

I haven't been to the boards in awhile, why can't one say PC master race? please don't flag me I'm asking a genuine question.

When it comes to consoles, you have to decide what experience you prefer. Also, the ps4 should not come out until january 2017. With a gtx 970 you can use virtual reality, just like the ps4.5 should be able to do. The advantage of pc is cheapness of upgrade and games (during steam sales that happen all the time). Consoles have their exclusives, and a different multiplayer group. Anyone who says "pc master race" will be flagged.

I was saying that as a general statement because, there was this time a few months ago that I gave someone information to help them decide on pc or console, and strangers jumped in and said it. They go flagged by someone else, but I was fine. I do hope that pascal will bring a better bang per buck, but according to linus form Linus techtips, he has seen that nvidia likes to keep the price to performance the same throughout generations. There will at least be better power usage.

I'm just hoping that the flagship card will have HBM2, I won't upgrade until I can get HBM2

GDDR5x seems like it came too late and in my opinion should have been on maxwell, at least on the 980 and above

Sorry I don't know alot about this type of stuff so excuse me for asking but is the Pascal GPU like the new series like the R7 and R9? How expensive will they be estimated?

Pascal is the generation that is about to come out, it is the successor to the 900 series cards and a big leap as it HOPEFULLY has a new memory type, and uses FinFet lithography at 16nm. The price range will be the same as past generations.

Nvidia > AMD and G-sync is better as it uses hardware (a little chip inside the monitor to be specific) to sync up your GPU's framerate with your monitor's refresh rate

Freesync does the same but it uses software instead and freesync is still having problems.

It doesn't matter anyway because within a year to eighteen months monitors will be released that can utilize freesync and G-sync or a new adaptive sync technology will be created that both Nvidia and AMD use.
