Hi Tom's Hardware!

This problem has been going on for a couple of months now.

All of a sudden, a few times a day, the Wifi will just completely drop.
The Ethernet connection will work just fine but anything connected via Wifi will stop running.
I've got a few security cameras, a streamer, a couple of laptops and a couple of phones connected to the Wifi during the day.
Once this happens there's no other way to fix it other than rebooting the modem.
The modem "sits" just behind my monitor, next to the streamer and in the same room as all the other devices mentioned above.

Tried talking to ISP but according to them if they see it under connected devices, it's all good on their side. (They've sent an engineer and a new "superhub", none of them fixed the problem).

Connected via Virgin Media in the UK, using this modem :http://static.trustedreviews.com/94/0000281ed/ea34/5GHZ-SIDE-A4-SH.jpg

(Tried to find a name for it, couldn't find anything other than "Virgin Media SuperHub")

Tried switching channels, restoring to factory default or any other mundane suggestions Virgina Media has given me.

Hope I gave all the info I could.

Any help will be greatly appericiated, this problem is driving me crazy!

a lot of routers get overwhelmed when you get to about ten devices that are constantly transferring data with the wifi.

You could try switching half the devices to 2.4GHz and the the rest to 5GHz.

Otherwise you might want to try setting up another access point and switch half the devices like all phones to the access point.

Cameras can't get on 5, same goes for one of the phones :\

Saying that, this set up has been on for a few months now, so I wonder why it just suddenly happened.

Is there any way to check if that's the problem?

personally, the security system should be on a separate network so that it will not get effected by the wifi issue.

the first thing I would check is if it happens when a certain amount of devices are connected, or if it is a certain device that connects to the wifi.

Do you mean by cascading? that will require me getting two routers..

I already checked, it's none of the above.. just happens randomly.
