Hey all, I am attempting to build a new PC with which I will be doing such tasks as heavy code compilation, SOME video editing, maybe a little gaming etc. I would like the ability to multitask smoothly, etc. I have been researching for a while now and I think I am leaning toward the AMD side,

I was hoping I could get a little help from the community.
Could you tell me what you think the best system components I could buy for under $900 would be?

I am looking at the AMD FX 8370 with Wraith cooler to start and the
NZXT Source 210 case

But everything else I am a little overwhelmed with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What you are describing for your use, intel would be a much better option. Where did you read about the 8370 to tell you that? The latest i7 line puts to shame the 4yr old visheras.

Anyway, here is a good build for what you need. Would you dabble in overclocking? If so, I'll change the build:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($309.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H170-GAMING 3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($64.49 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($87.77 @ OutletPC)...
