im kind of new to this stuff, so could you please possibly define optimal quad kit?
This bloke has the expertise about RAM, advises on the G-Skill site. This is really a subject he could explain better than i could, this is always his general answer though. http://www.tomshardware.com/community/profile-1333705.htm

You can but they may or may not work optimal as a quad kit would

Hey, so i just received my second dual kit 2x8 16GB 2400Mhz (exact same ram you have) the exact same model with the exact same everything to up it to 4x8 32gbs of ram running in dual channel, when i booted up my computer everything was stable showed i had 32gb 1 in every slot running at 2400mhz and still have XMP disabled. I have read even if its the same exact kits it might not work which i do agree but i took a gamble and it worked xD my Mobo is Asus prime z370 a with 8700k and only allows up to dual channel but you can still have 4 sticks of memory running at dual channel but i've read with newer hardware makes it easier to achieve but thats probably myth. hope this helps you make a decision, cya.
