I'm currently in the process of upgrading my gaming PC but my budget is forcing me to sacrifice some components. In a gaming build is it better to go for a:

  • GTX 960 and i5 4460
or

  • GTX 970 and AMD FX-4350

Thanks in advance

I don't understand how these are your options, the i5-4460 and the FX-4350 don't even really compare.... Those CPU choices mean that you're also replacing the motherboard. AMD boards are generally far less expensive than Intel boards, this is where the difference is made. You could use that money to step up to an FX-83xx instead of the FX-4350. The FX-8320/8350 holds up much better to the i5-4460, where the difference between the GTX 960 and 970 is pretty significant.

In short... GTX 970 + FX-8320 would game much better than GTX 960 + i5-4460

Oh right, that also sounds like an option. I guess I'll have to do more research into it lol
