Can i overclock my CPU using a stock amd heatsink?

Solution

Uuuhhh...That's an Intel CPU. He's on an AMD CPU. Different chip, heatsink, voltage and temperature ranges... :)

To answer the OP, a budget aftermarket cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO is worth it. The stock heatsinks are usually bare minimum cooling for stock speeds.

The only exception is the new AMD Wraith coolers being bundled with recently re-released FX CPUs. There is a small price premium, but they are MUCH better than their previous stock coolers.
