Heres the issue. I am the primary user of our internet, and Im a gamer. So naturally, Balancing internet speeds, pings, and ISP is important. I have Time Warner Cable, and a 30mbps plan. Deffinately not chump speeds. However, when steam is downloading games, (which mind you, for some reason caps off at 3.5 mbps, even though i have it not capped) my ping goes up. Way up. 600 on a good day, 1200 when im unlucky. This issue cant be bandwith. I have 30mbps, and steam only eats less than 4. Surely my game doesnt take up 25 mbps. The only other person in the house is my wife, and she only ever watches youtube videos. She runs off the wifi, i run off the Ethernet ports. I built my own top line computer, so i know its not hardware related. Ive done everything i could think of to tweak speeds or make fixes, and im at a loss, My broadband is huge, and speedtests verify, and often times EXCEED what im paying for. Am i missing something?
