Hey, I saved up some money and decided to finally put my 1st rig together! Woohoo.
However, since I'm not an expert I came up with some ideas that I would like you to have a look and hear any advices you might have for me. Just for the record my budget closes at £700(just pc, no accessories like monitor, keyboard etc.)

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASUS 90YV08V0-M0NA00 NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 950 2GB
Seagate 1TB 3.5" SATA Desktop Hard Drive
Kingston Technology 240 GB Solid State Drive 2.5 inch V300 SATA 3
ASUS Z170M-PLUS Motherboard

I know I am missing case, cooling and power supply and I would kindly ask for advice in these as well as general tips on the rig itself.

Thank you! :)

Hi, where are you located so we can figure out some options for you with the current currency ? Is that budget in Pounds ?

In the meantime, here are some options (depending on your budget): Since I live in Canada, I'm afraid these are CDN prices but you should be able to get what you need where you are:
Case: Get a midtower. Deepcool Tessract (3 different colours). Link is here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811853002&cm_re=mid_tower_atx_case-_-11-853-002-_-Product
Power supply: EVGA Eco 650 Watt. Link is here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438048&cm_re=evga_eco-_-17-438-048-_-Product
Re cooling. Air cooling is cheaper and works quite well. Deep cool is quite a good budget buy: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835856049&cm_re=lga_1151-_-35-856-049-_-Product

Your MB seems to have a good rating. I like I7-4790 but I realize those are a tad pricey. One good resource is pcpartpicker as it gives you availability as well as rating and compatability.

Anyways, this is just my opinion, I'm sure others may have different thoughts for you.

Best of luck.

I'm trying to get my own build started as well

Wow, thanks a milion! I really like this setup but my quesiton now is - will it be able to run games like Black Desert Online in 60fps on high? What about running double screen or even streaming or recording gameplay?

I shall do so.

I don't know about that game, but users face some fps drops even with a GTX 980Ti. So, good luck to you ;)

You can get an R9 380 for under £150 which would deliver better frame rates than the GTX 950 in Black Desert. I know your budget is tight but if you can't afford a GTX 970 the R9 380 is a great card, better than the 960 most of the time (don't want to open that debate!). If you don't intend to do any overclocking you could save some money on getting a non K CPU and H series motherboard and put a bit more into the GPU.

There is no OS on the partpicker did you say you didn't need that?

I started considering r9 380, might actually go for this one http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9380gaming4g. From what I read it's considerably better than gtx 960. Will it really improve performance by that much?
I have an OS so don't need to spend extra money on that.
I could actually do some overclocking however I'm not an expert on that.

The R9 380 is ahead in more games than the GTX 960 and tends to be slightly cheaper. The R9 380 and the 960 GTX are both better than the 950 GTX so if you have the money in your budget there is no advantage to buying the 950. Most reviewers recommend the R9 as the best card in that bracket for pure performance.

So, I have swapped GTX 950 for R9 380 but now the case doesn't fit, as R9 380 dimensions are too big. Any help with any other case I could use that will fit everything else in my setup.

Thank you again! :) that is what I'm going to order.
Do you think I should get this assembled or should I do it myself. Never done it before, quite scared to be honest. Don't wanna mess anything up if I pay almost 800quid for that.

What is your maximum budget? Wanna do some changes, you yourself can build it, it's quite an experience, look up on youtbe on how to build PCs.

Supposedly my budget was 700, however I've already stretched it to 750 but that's it, can't really afford more at this moment. I might upgrade some parts in a couple of months if you want to tell me what and why would you change.
I still don't know about building it myself, I guess I'll see once I get the shipping.

Allright than. Just to make sure, do you honestly think this is a decent gaming rig? I know its not 4x titan etc but... Will I be able to enjoy games on pretty decent framerate in high settings?

Yeah, I've double checked and cooler comes with the paste. Order placed with r9 380, I've watched a few comparison videos etc. and they claim r9 380 to outperform gtx 960 in majority of titles with barely any difference in temperature so I went for it. We will see.
