Want to know if its better to spend extra 100$on a CPU or GPU

I have most of mynew build planned out, but I want to know if I should spend my final 100$ on an Intel i7 6700k and get a GTX 960, or if I should get the i5 6600k and get a GTX 970. Let me know which option would be better for what. i.e. The better GPU would be better for gaming, but the better CPU will allow my PC to run other every day tasks better/faster.

The i5-6600K is plenty for gaming! Spend the $$ on a better GPU for sure. The i5 can do daily tasks easily so no worry there.

This is a question of margins - both will be improvement, but you want the $100 to give you the largest marginal improvement. That being said:

The GTX 970 over a 960 will be a much more noticeable improvement than the i7 over the i5. Spend it on the GPU.

Unless you are doing rendering or similar workloads only, get the i5 setup.

i5 set up could go i3 route as good i3 has hyperthreading where i5s dont & are affordable & go as good i5s are great but i wait round for the price to drop to over priced atm

I'd get the 6600k and a 970 over a 6700k and a 960 anyday. What is the rest of your build and what budget do you have?
