Just built a gaming rig and wanted to connect it to my admittedly dated 5.1 HTIB. Bought this card thinking all would be well and it would output to 5.1 surround over the optical out, but win 10 only recognizes the left and right channels over the optical out. I've read that the card can only pass 5.1 surround audio through and that the card is incapable of encoding dts or Dolby digital.
If the games I'm playing have 5.1 surround output (bioshock, deadspace, and a few others have the option in their menus), would this output appropriately? How would I get windows to play nice and use all the channels? Or is this not possible at all, and I should return the card and buy another that will do what im looking for (recommendations please)?
