Gotta build a pc that will last the longest..i got the choice between i7-3930K vs i7 4790 (not the K version)
the 4790 come with a nice mobo asus griphon z87
the i7-3930K come with some generic dell mobo (was on an alienware)

then i got the choice between a titan black 6g (still got one years warranty on it)
or 2 GTX 780 TI 3gb (all reference model, i like the look)

i dont mind overclocking, price is pretty much the same, its for gaming / video editing
THANK !

The 4790 will last the longest, it's already a newer gen for one and two it's better for gaming, I'd go with the 4790 and 2 780ti's unless you can afford a 980ti.

Just because one cpu can overclock and one can't doesn't mean it's better... I had a 4790, and my 4690k ocd still couldn't get the same results.

yeah but i got the i7 4970 (not the K version) so its locked to 3.6-4Ghz, the i7-3930K can be overclocked easy to 4.5.. that why i'm hesitating...

opps typo.. its a 4790 , i got both rig right now , ill do some bench for cpu and gpu, if you guys want to see a particular benchmark let me know,
for now i think im going for the i7 4790 with the Titan black.. it got more ram/ cuda core, still under warranty and its a little bit cheaper. i think 2x780Ti is overkill for my usage , ill maybe test some game on 3 screen setup if i find out how to setup games to support nvidia surround. thx

I dont agree, i own a 780ti and the performance are great ..right now you can buy a 780 ti cheaper then a 970. Its not a crap gpu...nvidia cripple keppler gpu, the card got more raw power then a 960... Dont get me started on that subject.. I only buy nvidia gpu because they dont lose value compared to radeon, i owned a gtx 550 560 ti, 580 , r9 280x, 290 then back to nvidia due to the heat and noise of the 290 reference model.. Gtx 780 was lacking power compared to the 290 so i upgraded to 780 ti and now ive got a really good deal to buy another 770 ti or titan.
btw the 280x was the best card i owned price/performance

Pay close attention to the gaming bench scores at the bottom, as well as the nominal frequencies tested.

If you can manage a healthy overclock on the 3930K, it will handily outpace the 4790. That said, you're giving up features of the newer platform. Not to mention going with some cheap motherboard Dell threw into a prebuilt. Unless you're using applications that make moderate use of more than four physical cores, I'd pass on the 3930K. Unless of course it's the cheaper route
