So yesterday when I turned on my pc I had a huge drop in fps in my games.
I played skyrim at max settings and GTA V at medium with 40fps. I then opened the games today and I get 8 fps maximum.
I don't know what is going on. I didn't install any new drivers or software apart from GTA eflc which I installed from the original discs yesterday. Since then GTA V and Skyrim have this problem but I did a system restore in order to change back anything that the game could have changed but it's still not working. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I did notice that my cpu usage is at 100 % but I don't know if it has always been or just now. My GPU Temps are fine and I wasn't able to play anything long enough to see max CPU temps.

My specs are: Asus Core unlocker m4a88td Motherboard.
Amd ATHLON II x4 640 3ghz CPU
8GB Hyperx ram
Msi 7770 1GB ddr5
Coolermaster 500w 80 plus PSU

Any help would be much appreciated

Solution
This sounds like your CPU is being overloaded with startup objects... If you have Win 8 or Win 10, then press Control+Shift+Escape to open task manager and navigate to the startup tab. Anything that you don't need to be always running can be disabled. Please be aware that disabling a startup object does not stop the program from working, it just keeps it from hogging resources on your machine until you actually open it.

Also, if you have Win 7, you won't have a startup tab in task manager, instead you'll want to press Windows+R to open Run and type in msconfig and press Enter. Then navigate to the startup tab and disable anything you don't need to be running.

If there are things that you don't know what they are, post back and I'll...

If there are things that you don't know what they are, post back and I'll research them, don't disable things that you don't know what they are because they could be services that support certain aftermarket functions.

Please post back with results
