I would like to upgrade to 16 GB of RAM and I was wondering if I could use 2 sticks of Kingston and 2 sicks from Corsair (I would run them in dual channel seperately K-C-K-C) ?
Even if you can get another pair of the same exact model you currently have - there's no guarantee a new set will play with the old set, best to just get a set of 2x8GB, if the old will play it's a bonus, if not, sell it or can put in another rig. It could, if you own one and want to upgrade to the second one the only way is to try it, who knows? The worst thing that can happen is that your pc won't recoginise any ram and you would have to remove the old ram.
Yeah I already own 8GB of RAM but the place i usually buy parts from is out of stock on the kingston stuff so I was wondering if getting more from a different brand would work
It could work, what you need to do, does not matter if same brand or not, is to find a matching pair for latency and voltage, or as close to it as possible.
If the second pair does not match your current pair exactly, you need to enter the settings in BIOS to the lowest common denominator, so slowest latency and highest voltage.
