Hello everybody,

I am wanting to go ahead and build myself a new comuter.
For the CPU I am wanting to get the Intel Core i5-4690k and I was wondering if this CPU comes with a stock Intel CPU Cooler because I am not prepared to pay the price for a custom CPU Cooler yet but soon enough I will so I was wondering if this CPU did come with a CPU Cooler and you guys might be thinking: "What an idiot, why would you want to use a stock cooler for a k-type CPU." But as I said, later on I will be buying a custom CPU Cooler so I will be able to do some overclocking :)

Solution
Yes, 4690K comes with a cooler, and it is adequate and sufficient, but might be a little noisy under loads and I wouldn't expect to do much overclocking with it.

Do you already have an 1150 board? Otherwise, I'd probably recommend going with Skylake/1151.

So you want me to go with an lga1151 socket?
I don't have a 1150 motherboard right now but cpu's like the 4790k are so expensive and I am getting the 4690k second hand which is about the same as a i5-4460 so i don't think ill be getting the 4790k.
But if you know any cpu that goes with lga1151 and is a similar price tag to the 4690k, please let me know :) because who knows. maybe ill get a 1151 :D

Just get on newegg - 1151 i5's are priced about the same as their 1150 counterparts, but are a little faster, run a little cooler, draw a bit less power, and fit into newer motherboards with more features.

The i5 4460's equivalent is the i5 6400.
The i5 4690's equivalent is the i5 6600.
The i5 4690K's equivalent is the i5 6600K.
The i7 4790's equivalent is the i7 6700.

My build works great.
Overclocking a 4690k can be done on most 1150 motherboards if you update the bios.
However, you won't get a huge overclock with the standard cooler and a budget motherboard like mine because you are limited by both motherboard power supply phases and the cooling capability of the stock cooler.
I am running with CPU Vcore of only 1.1V

If I had spent $70 more on a Z series motherboard and $40 more on a fancy cooler, I could probably have got to 4.6GHz, but that is a lot of money for an extra 10% performance, so I am very happy with my current build.
