I'm between these two drives:

1TB WD Black @7200 RPM 64MB ----> WD1003FZEX

2TB WD Green @7200 RPM 64MB ----> WD20EZRX

l've been searching for a while but couldn't find a discussion regarding these specific specs. I'm aware of the warranty difference but, besides that, how different would they be performance-wise?

Welcome to the community, Batlamb!

I'm not sure where you have found these specs for the WD Green, but I have to tell you that we no longer market them as WD Green. We have consolidated our mainstream PC products to the WD Blue Family. Under the WD Blue brand you will find 7,200 RPM class drives with available capacities up to 1 TB that are a solid primary storage solution for everyday computing. Besides that, there are also secondary storage drives (previously known as the WD Green) that are in the 5,400 RPM class with storage capacities up to 6 TB.

The WD Black, on the other hand, is our performance HDD. Besides the 5-year limited warranty that you already know about, it's specifically tuned for performance in high-end rigs and their demanding purposes. It incorporates a dual-core processor that offers twice the capabilities and maximizes the drive's performance, especially for loading games or large multimedia files. This hard drive model also has available capacities up to 6 TB, where the 5 TB and 6 TB models come with increased cache size of 128 MB.

I hope I was able to help you. Make sure you check the hyperlinks for more details on the HDD specifications.
Keep us posted if you have more questions! :)

Thank you.

My bad, the post has been edited. The model number for the WG Green is WD20EZRX.

l realized my post wasn't clear enough, so let me rephrase myself.
Even though the WD20EZRX shares the same RPM and Cache as the WD Black (WD1003FZEX) is the difference in performance so significant that l should incline towards the last, considering that the WD Green also has more storage?

I already own an SSD for the OS and software but it's quite small (120GB) so l would use the extra HDD for backups (music, documents, family stuff) and games. If l went towards the WD black would 1TB be enough nowadays ? I'm no content creator but games tend take quite a bit of space.

That's the thing, @Batlamb, the WD20EZRX doesn't share the same RPM as the WD1003FZEX!
Both drives are older models. The WD Green, however, incorporates IntelliPower RPM. This is a fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate, and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance. You can read about the difference between IntelliPower and traditional 7,200 RPM drives in our knowledge base. The power-efficient drives are a good secondary storage solution for music, docs and your family stuff. However, they are not designed to deliver on the demanding gameplay performance. This is where the WD Black would be a better alternative.

As for the capacity of your secondary drive it's entirely up to you and the kind of software/games and data you plan to use it for. The most important thing is that you always keep at least one more copy of your data somewhere off-site as well. Having multiple backups is the surest way to avoid the headaches of potential data loss!

Hope I was helpful. Good luck! :)
