Expresscard eSATA or USB3?

Solution

you are going into driver support territory here and it really depends on the manufacturer.
Acronis relies on windows to deal with the drivers, so if the drivers are bad and windows has issues, acronis will have issues as well.
just look for a card with good reviewes from a well known manufacturer

Assuming that seller is real, the eSATA seems to be a SATA-II card which has a lower bandwidth than USB 3.0.

However, as was pointed out above, if you are using mechanical HDDs then it doesn't matter. They can't saturate SATA-II so either one would be fine.

I'd go with USB 3.0 simply because the card would give you more USB ports to connect to other things.

"what kind of drive is inside the enclosure. if you have a slow mechanical drive inside the enclosure it really does not matter. "

The Hard disk is mechanical. I thought eSata card would have better chance to work with backup software like Acronis, the USB3 card can have a problem not to be detected no?

I think I'll get the 2 port version USB3.0 card
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Laptop-54mm-Express-Karte-ExpressCard-zu-2-Port-USB-3-0-Adapter-/261906933816?

And I'm still looking for info on eSATA+USB combo, and eSata cards, what chipsets, user experience, etc.

because there seems to be quite a few issues with these cards.
