Got an old hard disk with win xp installed on it and today it stopped working. I had to format it, so i have no actual windows to run on it. Yet, i didn't format the second partition, which contains files i want to recover. I used 3 different bootable cds with win xp vista and 7 on it and, at least on the ones with 7 and vista, it'll proceed to the step where it's expanding files, will pass the one with copying files like in a couple of seconds, literally from 0% will go to 100%, it'll stay still on 0% for a couple of minutes, then, after a few more percents, it'll pop up an error called 0x8007045d. Yet, i tried usint the recovery tools to repair the computer, didn't work. Safe mode won't work. The solve with using cmf from recovery tools ain't a solution for me as long as i still want to keep my files on my second partition. So far, i can't do nothing with it, just because i ain't got any operating system on it to check if there is either a hardware or software issue. I heard something about bad sectors that can cause this error, but how do i check that. I ain't got any ubuntu live or things like that on any bootable cds and i'm not looking forward to do that. I'm able however to access the advanced boot options, but going on safe mode or anything won't work, cuz the partition with the windows has been formatted, as i said, so it's empty. What am i supposed to do to make it work ??
