My alienware alpha broke (yes i know, that was a mistake) and now im looking for a new pc. ive had this one build on pcpartpicker for a month or so and ive been revising it a little bit here and there. i dont know the motherboard off of the top of my head but heres what i do remember. im kinda on a budget.
-AMD FX 8320 @3.5 GHz
-Sapphire nitro r9 380
-the 5400 rpm hard drive from my alienware (to save some money but will upgrade soon)
-EVGA 600B 600 watt power supply
-nzxt source 210 case (dosent really affect perfomance

I want to run games like GTA V on some high settings, im not really graphics picky but this game on all low is butt ugly. My alienware couldnt even run this game on all low for some reason. i dont mind a few low settings on a game, but i would hate all low settings. i also dont mind if i have to turn off vsync.

thank you guys in advance!

Getting a Intel is probably better as of now. An i5 4690k is a very good cpu for like around $180. The rest of the parts are fine. The r9 380 is pretty good. In probably 4-6 years you might have to upgrade, but right now that build can run any game really

This question depends on the user. If you asked me if I would not be happy with the system you have speced out I would say no. I would want better storage like a ssd to boot and a hdd for extra. Im not sure about evga power supplys they may be good. The fx chip is old and I would not want it in my system with zen coming out and am4. I like my 4790k runs games like butter but it really depends on your budget with ddr4 going that way might be a good idea with a budget friendly i5 1151 socket or even a pentium will get you in the game.

You should be able to hit near 60 fps @ 1080p with that rig using high-ish settings. If you can live with 30+ fps, you can probably run the game at near max settings. If your m/b allows for OC'ing the FX-8320, all the better. The Evga 600B isn't the best, but it will be OK.

He has the opportunity to purchase a more currecnt pc rather than a old fx for cost it isn't going to be that much diference between the fx and a i5 skylake and we both know the i5 is better

well i see that on lots of new games like far cry primal that the recommended is the amd fx 8350 (i usually dont trust that anyways). i dont think the 8320 is THAT far off from the 8350. i dont really like intel cpus since i think they are very overpriced. like i said i dont mind vsync off and a few settings on low. i just dont wanna play GTA V with graphics that look like Minecraft. and im DEFINITELY gonna get a new hard drive and maybe an ssd for the OS. Speaking of that, is there any way i can easily copy all of my files to a new hard drive or an easy way to keep what i want which is mainly my saves in skyrim which ive spent 200+ hours on, stuff like that.
