I have been having this problem for a couple of months now and i have scoured the entire internet for answers but still could not find anything.

Seemingly at random my computer will crash while playing a game.

My Specs are:
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz
Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400
1.5TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB
Corsair RM 750W 80+
Windows 10 64 bit

Overclocking is default 25%

I have run memtest for 12 hours with no errors.
I have run furmark for 3 hours with no errors.
The intel processor diagnostic tool comes up with no errors.
I have updated all drivers

When it crashes the whole computer freezes up and sometimes i have to hard reset and sometimes it BSODs with Clock_Watchdog_Timeout. However when i hard reset, after i restart i get Overclocking failed or both Overclocking failed AND ASUS surge protector was activated to protect against power surge (something along those lines)

And this is what is showing up on HWmonitor and Speedfan while playing The Witcher 3: http://imgur.com/a/A0eB7
Does anything look wrong here?

I really have no idea what is going on but it would be AWESOME if you guys could help me out.

Thanks in advance.

In the BIOS select CPU core voltage...

here is a very simple and conservative approach to manual overclocking
1. Use CPU-Z to find out your Vcore at stock settings.
2. In BIOS, set Vcore to 0.1V higher than stock
3. Increase your CPU speed to 4GHz, and use your PC as normal. If it crashes, change it to 3.9Ghz in the BIOS and try again. If it doesn't crash try 4.1Ghz etc

Im not quite sure if i have used the automatic overclocking utility, however my pc always says its overclocked 25% since the first time i started it.

sorry im a noob when it comes to overclocking but when i look at my core voltage on cpu-z it gos between .800 and 1.200, which should i go off of and also, while im in bios i get the options to change to adaptive, manual, offset, and auto. how should i go about doing this?

In the BIOS select CPU core voltage (vcore) to manual, and set it to 1.200V
Then experiment with CPU frequency until you find the highest CPU speed which never crashes when gaming
