Here's what we get ...

-Both the MSIs come with ALC 1150 ...both ASrock come with ALC892... a huge drop in audio quality.
-The Asrock boards support higher memory speeds, will it matter ? (3866 vs 3600) Not if ya not planning on buying 3866.
-Only the MSI Gaming Z170A supports SLI 3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (support x16/x0/x4, x8/x8/x4 modes)

That does it for me ...

1. The cheap ALC 892 audio solution just...

1. The cheap ALC 892 audio solution just kills both AsRock boards as suitable gaming choices
2. No possible SLI option kills both ASRock and 1 ouytta the 2 MSI boards cutting you off from the option to extend system life by 18-24 months by buying a 2nd card someday.

MSI Gaming Z170A would be my choice among those. However, I am concerned about the high % of negative reviews on this board ... granted the small sampling makes it hard to say the results are statistically valid, and not as high as many popular Asus boards, but it's enough to make me shy away.

So while among your choices, the MSI Gaming 5 stands out features wise above the other 3, The Gaming 3 from Gigabyte has much more happy owners, ALC 1150, gorgeous looks and a great price and supports SLI making it an easy choice.

Sort of, the pro4s is the cheapest one, about (R$759, about 1x minimum wage here), the Msi Z170 A Pro is R$859, Msi Z170A-Gaming 3 is about R$959 and the Z170 G1 Ga-z170x-gaming 3 R$1051 making it the most expensive of them.

Oh, I don't disagree that the Gigabyte is preferred. We were answering the question as it was stated.

If it were the MSI versus Gigabyte 5 or 7 it would be a tossup...I'm not familiar with the 3 series so was relying on newegg reviews. Gigabyte board certainly looks better aesthetically and has better user reviews ... however not really a statistically reliable number of reviews to be certain.

And unfortunately, my fav VRM list is outta date ... Giga always excelled here but does that continue into Z170 ?

MSI's BIOS is 2nd only to Asus and the difference has shrunk with each generation. There's a lot of great OC guides on youtube for both Asus and MSI. Giga's gives me headaches ... no doubt which would be reduced with greater familiarity. used Asus almost exclusively for 10 years and Now MSI / Gigabyte mostly with the rare Sabertooth / WS Asus build

Also, MSI's auto-overclocking and physical OC features are getting very close to the point where manual OC'ing may someday be something only for the diehard enthusiast. Of course, this is "less evolved" in the less expensive boards but the MSI Z170 Titanium is amazing.
