I've read through countless threads to try and find a solution, so far no luck.
I bought a new computer 2 days ago, Inspiron 3847, from Dell. Wanted to upgrade the graphics card, so I bought a simple Geforce 610. Installed it, everything works great. Except the sound.
There's no sound. Plugged in my iphone earbuds, no sound. Plugged in my hyper x headset, no sound. What I DO get is a sort of static sound that will randomly jump in how loud and choppy the sound is. I have tried all of the following proposed solutions.

-Uninstalling the graphics card audio drivers and restarting.
-Uninstalling and reinstalling Realtek audio drivers and restarting.
-Ensuring volume controls are on, enabled, volume is on, etc.
-Going into BIOS and ensuring volume controller is enabled.
-Ensuring realtek is the default playback option for audio in device manager.
-Disabling / Enabling realtek.

Additional information:
-Sound was working perfectly fine before installing new graphics card.
-When I reboot and say have my headset plugged in, the static sound is gone UNTIL I go to anything where sound would normally play (youtube video, game, etc)
-The issue is NOT that my headset or whatever other audio device does not show up in control panel / device manager. From the outset of this problem whenever I have gone into device manager the default sound device is there, with a green checkmark.
-Audio icon in bottom right corner of desktop toolbar does not have a red x.
-If I attempt to troubleshoot realtek audio, it tells me the device is working properly.
-EVEN IF I take out the new graphics card from my new computer (leaving only the build in graphics) the problem persists.

Seriously, what gives?
Also, is there a shortcut fix to this? Can I like buy a sound card for my PC to solve this issue? Willing to do that at this point.

Thanks in advance! Going to sleep after 4+ hours of attempting to fix this.. will check back in the morning!

Wow, you've already done pretty much everything I would have suggested. I have one more idea if you don't mind spending more time on the problem: grab a live CD or bootable USB with something like Ubuntu or Linux Mint on it. Try booting from that to see if your sound will work. It's definitely possible that your motherboard or audio jack is defective. Checking with a different OS will show you whether or not that is the case.
I know it's a pain, but it may be worth returning for repair or replacement.

If you want the easy solution, you can just buy a soundcard. I don't know what sort of internal expansion you have available, but a basic USB one will work.

Thanks for your reply!
I think I just want the easy way out at this point. So could you provide me with some info as to how the sound card solution works? I've never really had any issues with computers before.. hell that was the first time I had ever opened up a computer (installing the nvidia card).
So do I just buy a usb soundcard, plug it into the tower.. and then boot up my PC? I always wear a headset, so does the headset plug into the normal pink/green ports on the tower? Do I need a soundcard that has those green and pink ports for my headset available on it?
