Can I wash the my mouse mat?

Hi,

I have the Corsair MM200 XL and it's gathered quite a bit of dust and gunk and I can feel it as my mouse glides over it. I tried rubbing it off and have cleaned the under side of my mouse and the gunk is still prominent. I wash just wondering could I put the mouse pad in the washing machine or could I put it into some hot water to clean off the gunk without wrecking the mouse mat itself.

I have always read that you can wash them manually, using warm water and soap (not cloth washing thingy). Then you can dry it out with a soft cloth thingy or with an air blower (cold and in lowest speed). Do not leave it to dry on the open / under the sun.

EDIT: I don't have an expensive mat, so I use cold/warm water and soap with the dryer on low or a towel to dry it out. Works wonders cleaning wise and hasn't damaged the mat over the years.
