Sorry for the wall of text :p

Alright, so a few days ago I decided so get an SSD to run my OS on instead of a hard drive.
After installing bla bla bla, I opened csgo and played for 5 minutes until my pc crashed and I got a black screen.

I had these kinds of issues a year+ ago and expected my pc to be crashing due to overheating. HOWEVER before when I used my old OS on the hard drive I had 0 issues in running cs (Max Settings 300+fps). So I started looking into my CPU temps on idle and so on.. What I found was that my old OS was running ~20-24 idle and my new OS was 55c on startup (bios temp reading) and rising.

First thing I remembered was that on my old OS I had "underclocked" my CPU to 2900mhz (I thought bios settings were stored somewhere other than your storage disks, guess not..). Anyway, I did the same in bios on my new OS and viola I get 36 idle.
"Great, now wth happened to the other 14 degrees that are left to drop"

Afterwards I loaded up CS and monitored my CPU temps in Open Hdware Monitor.
Played for 5 mins, CPU went to 65c+ and I crashed again.
I gave up and set my settings to minimum and played for >3hrs without crashing.
So the past few days I've been trying to guess what kind of software/hardware variables could be affecting my CPU temps with no avail. I had also tried to improve temps by getting rid of dust "even though it couldn't be dust since I only reset my OS and not any actual hardware (apart from adding an SSD)"

Any ideas cos I like my eye candy without living inside an oven,
Thanks, cpu2hot4me.

Cpu is FX8320 with gammax S40 cooler.
Also if youre wondering, its def. not my gpu because that runs ~45c under load.

Well, you just answered the question, the PC is in the corner. Also, SSDs heat too, that is probably why the cooler can't do it's job as it did before since it intakes more hot air than before. Try placing the SSD so that it's outside of the case and replicating the enviroment as if it never was there.

The only 2 things that might have happened are:
1.The SSD blocks air current
2. You kinda moved the heatsink and now it's incorrectly placed.
Try reinstalling the heasink and replacing the compound. The cooler looks like a decent one and the only thing i might think of is that the air around the case is too hot.

1. Doubt it. I had it in my case for a week after purchase and it didn't screw up the old OS.

2. Same with this, because if I boot using my old harddisk old OS works fine.
As for replacing thermal compound, I may try that, however I was planning on buying myself a water cooler for my birthday just to feel like a little kid again :)

I'm starting to guess that the problem is software sided, however, my tower is almost in the corner of my room so I probably need to rethink that too,

Thanks anyway,
