So here's the deal...
I just received my new laptop that comes with Windows 10 on the HDD as well as a new SSD. I want to swap out the HDD in the laptop for the SSD. The problem is that I can't install windows on the SSD while it's in the new laptop using a disc because the laptop doesn't have an optical drive. So I tried using a USB drive. I was able to get the laptop to boot from the USB drive, but it says that I am missing a CD/DVD driver. It turns out that this problem is commonly solved by just plugging the USB into a 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 port. Well, this new laptop also doesn't have a USB 2.0 port. It only has 3 USB 3.0 ports.
Now that you understand the situation I'm in, here is my question.
Can I temporarily install the new SSD into my desktop, boot the from the windows installation disc OR thumb drive, and then remove the SSD from my desktop and install it in the new laptop? Or will there be errors because of different hardware or BIOS?
