AMD APU temp/margin WITHOUT Overdrive?

I don't know why but I can't run AMD Overdrive. Everytime it gets to 'initialising', the computer resets - no bsod, no shutdown/reboot, just a complete power cut and restart.

Thought it might be the Asus AI Suite but no.

So, anyway, I've built a PC into a CD player with an A10-7800 APU and i'd quite like to know if my cooling is good enough under load. I ran AIDA64 last night and the readings it gave for core temps maxed out at 37°C - but does AIDA64 actually calculate the temp from TCTL?

Is there any way of measuring thermal margin without AMD Overdrive?

TIA!

I'm not sure you understand the question or the problem. Third party sensor readers do not accurately report AMD processor core temperatures. HWInfo, HWMontior, Open Hardware Monitor, Speedfan, Asus AI Suite etc. etc. etc all report different things. AMD Overdrive seems to be the only software that will report the thermal margin correctly.

I totally understand your problem HWMonitor and Open Hardware Monitor works perfect for me and my FX4300 my tempertures are the same on these programs as my amd overdrive.

I think it might be different for the FX processors then because what I get with my A10-7800 looks like a normal temperature but about 20 degrees off. At full load, it holds at 37°C, at idle it's around 15-20°C
