Hello,

I just cleaned my pc, and i accidently broke a fan blade from my 980ti. My question is, should i replace it with a new fan? Should i leave it as is? Im pretty sure i can buy a fan off aliexpress, im just wondering if its worth it or if i should call asus or etc.

Any input is appreciated thanks!

You probably won't notice any temp drop, but I've never had that happen. However, my guess is that similar to a table fan, if one of the blades is missing it will vibrate as it's out of balance and may possibly shorten the life of the electric motor. I would expect it to not be quite as sensitive on a small diameter fan with more blades like a GPU cooler, but it if were my GPU, I wouldn't run it for long like that.

Before doing anything, I'd get hold of ASUS's customer support either via live chat or on their forums and ask what they think.

Are you sure they sell those fans for a strix 980 ti? I did a quick google search and I couldn't find any. How are your temps? If they haven't changed I probably wouldn't worry about it, however the fan not being balanced due to a missing fan blade could damage the bearing in the fan over time.

If anyone is interested, i sent it back to Asus. They told me it was covered under the warranty (which i strongly doubted). After they inspected the product they sent me a repair bill to pay, i paid and now it's repaired and on the way back to me. So, thanks all for your advice, like Areflame said the spinning will kill it on the long-term.

Note to myself, gotta be more careful when cleaning my pc with an air compressor hehe.

Thank you for your advice guys.
