Hey guys. As you can figure from the title, im writing this from my phone...
A few weeks back i built my first computer with the help of a few professionals. There were no issues what so ever, and i began installing drivers and such. Ive been using it since, mainly for gaming, but today, while i was listening to music and browsing facebook, the sound started crackeling. I googled it, and found a thread saying something about my drivers. I checked all drivers on my pc to see if they needed updates (used the windows 10 function to check each of them) and it said that my firmware drivers were outdated. Windows started installing some new driver, and then restarted the pc. It began to do a system update, and i went to the bathroom. When i came back, everything was black. My mouse, keyboard, headset, usb drives and monitor all seemed to have lost their signals. The backlighting on the motherboard was still on, so i figured it mustve gone into standby. So i press my spacebar, no response. Try the mouse, no response. Tried pulling out usbs and plugging them back in, nothing but darkness. So i forced a shutdown by holding the power button. (Looking back this mightve been dumb). When i tried to turn it on again, everything went fine, except everything was still dead. All fans were going, but thr harddrive lights were off, aswell as all the accessories (incl. Monitor) i tried pulling out the powe cable and leaving it out, some weird attempt to reset mobo or something, but still nothing. Can a firmware driverupdate have bricked my mobo? What should i do? I need my pc urgently for an assignment due tommorow evening :( and i cant afford to buy a new one, since im a student.

Please remove the CMOS battery on your MOBO for thirty seconds then place it back where it goes, then flash the BIOS with the most recent version available. This will clear any problems you may have created with the MOBO itself. At this point, it sounds like it's failing the power on self test before it loads the speakers or display so it's unable to communicate any errors.

Make sure the machine is unplugged and you've held the power button for five seconds to drain the capacitors within the power supply before attempting to work inside the tower.

i had this before too.
dude you install it on standoff screws? if yes your have bend the motherboard.
rma it, you get a new one for free(i did).

msi aren't the hardest ones in ramming unlike asus.

oooh and get another power supply, its very bad !!!, you can break all of your components with it.

Ive removed the cmos and plugged it back in after 30 seconds, then tried turning pc on so i could flash bios, still utter darkness. The backlighting still going when its on, but no signal. No devices lighting up or responding, no lights on the case turning on, nothing. How can i flash bios when no devices work while connected?

Okay, It's still not working. I've taken out the graphics card, reseated the RAM, taken out the cmos battery and leaving it out for several minutes, all while power was off to the computer. When i press the power button, it responds, and all fans start going, and the MOBO backlighting begins (u know, the cheesy LED's some of us kinda love). Nothing else responds. No power seems to go from the MOBO to the USB devices, no signal goes from MOBO through HDMI to the monitor, no lights on the case turns on (no white glow in the power button, no blinking LED to signal that the hardrives are going, etc) I don't get how a firmware update can have possibly bricked my MOBO completely... I must say, i got super worried when windows said it was done installing Lenovo firmware drivers, but before i could do anything, the pc restarted, and since this it has been black. There must be something i can do to save the MOBO :( The firmware update has probably ruined the signals leaving the MOBO, but isn't there a way i can put it back to factory settings?

No, but it is possible that it corrupted the BIOS which communicates with the CPU through the Northbridge (ahem, north and southbridge chipsets are all in one unit now on Intel, right?) which would create a problem with the board being able to run the CPU correctly. If you have a second CPU lying around, you could try putting that in just to eliminate the possibility of the CPU being bad (sometimes they just fail for no apparent reason).

Ay mate, i'm taking my MOBO to the support staff at the store i bought i from, and they'll look at both my MOBO and CPU to determine where the error is. They estimate that they'll have an answer in about 14-18 days, so keep your eye out, as i'll be sure to post another reply as soon as i've gotten an answer from them :)

i have similar problem with this mobo... Windows normaly booting but after i go bios is no responding... alsi booting menu not work... i tryet update bios with flashing tool , bios is updated but problem is same

If a CMOS clear does not solve your issue, I would contact MSI.

I've noticed more of these related issues popping up lately and it seems that this board simply isn't the best quality. Just because a board has Pro and Gaming in its name doesn't mean it's any better... Kinda like how people think KRAIT is great just because it's one of MSI's major brandings but in reality KRAIT isn't special at all when compared to other boards from MSI.
