Im not too sure what settings do what within the nvidia control panel.

There are soooo many youtube videos and threads on here...but most are slightly different to each other. Also why is there a global setting tab and a program setting tab?

i have an gtx 980 ti and the asus swift g sync monitor.

do i have to change values with in the global setting tab and change the values on each game within the program tab?? Some people say set pre rendered frames to 1....others say change it to 1...vsync on adaptive....v sync off!!!

would someone mind spending the time guiding me to the best gaming experience possible .. thanks

If you are gonna want to change some setting, never do that in teh general options. Always on a per-game...

If you are gonna want to change some setting, never do that in teh general options. Always on a per-game basis, as all games have their particularities. So there are no go-to good-for-all-games settings.
Generally, you shouldn't have to worry, and just use the ingame settings to turn on v-sync(some would say that you shouldn't but g-sync was meant to be used with v-sync, plus, then you don't have to limit framerates and stuff)
Aside from that, with that kind of graphics horsepower, you should be good to go on high/ultra in any game(pre rendered frames and whatnot are to be messed with when struggling for performance or in case of stuttering, witch you shouldn't be seeing).
