Is the AMD A10 7850K good for gaming?

I am looking to upgrade my CPU, and need to know if AMD A10 AD785KXBJABOX 7850K Black Edition with Radeon R7 Series New FM2+ Kaveri HSA CPU is any good.

I'd like to be able to play Call of Duty, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc smoothly.

Is it any good for gaming, or any better options for a bit more money? Needs to be FM2+.

No APU will give you GTX 750 Ti gaming performance. Not yet.

If you're looking to get a dedicated graphics card, I would jump for the Athlon X4 880k, which is basically a 7850k without the integrated graphics.

But if you need the integrated graphics, sure, the 7850k will do fine. Rise of the Tomb Raider will run on high settings@720p 30fps.

Thanks for the recommendation - yes, I've currently got a dedicated GPU, but upgrading that too.

Is there anything slightly higher than the X4 880K? Can't find it on Amazon UK (trying to order everything in one go) and would like to make sure I'm upgraded for the forseeable future, as this is the third time I've "had" to upgrade in the past year.

Nothing is higher than the 880k on the FM2+ socket. And since you already have the dedicated GPU a 7850k is pretty worthless.

And what is your budget for the GPU?
