Dell Wireless card very slow

I just had fast internet upgraded and my 1.5 year old Dell Latitude 3540 speed test with the Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHZ wireless card is 47.71 Mbps. The Ethernet connection is 103.04 Mbps.

Meanwhile, my 6+ year old Dell Inspiron 15R is 96.73 Mbps and is sitting next to the Latitude and running off the same 2.4 GHz router the same distance away. So, the Intel card delivers quite close to its Ethernet speed, which is the same as the 103.04 Ethernet speed for the other laptop.

Granted, the Inspiron has the Intel wimax 6250 WiFi card, which is probably a superior card although 5 years older. But the Dell card gives HALF the WiFi speed of the Intel card. What gives?

It's hard to imagine that the Hardware (newer Dell card vs. older Intel card) is responsible for a 2x difference in speed.

I have already run Dell diagnostics on the Dell WiFi card and it comes up Passed.

My question: how can I further diagnose the Dell card? Also, especially are there any settings/tweaks which can be made to hopefully double the speed back to what appears to be normal.

Thanks in advance.
