I have an acer predator with an i5-2300, upgraded to 16gb 1600mhz ram, and hd 7850 2gb currently only play world of warcraft on it and it does ok.

i have a chance at a great deal on a gtx 970 4gb. how well could i play some modern First person shooters and other mmorpg's? what type of settings and fps can i expect? thanks in advance for the advice.

I would expect you to be able to play FPS games like BF4 on high with 50-60 FPS. CPU is lacking a bit compared to the newest CPUs as it was released in 2011. The 16 GB of ram is fine, im guessing its DDR3. But the GTX 970 is a pretty good upgrade from the 7850. Im just worried about possible bottlenecking from you CPU. But you would be able to play pretty much any game on high settings. Depending on the game.
