My desktop computer has been off for a week or so, and I turned it on yesterday. When playing a game, after a few minutes the computer will go black, sound will stutter for several seconds, and then it will hard reset. This also happened when watching Youtube videos, though it took longer; watching videos on my HDD doesn't seem to cause this, though.
A month or so ago I upgraded to a GTX 970, and then somewhat later added an SSD that I have yet to fill with anything. During this interval the computer, with just the 970 and with the SSD, worked just fine, with no crashes or anything out of the ordinary. This problem only showed up yesterday, which indicates that either Windows 7 automatically downloaded something bad and misconfigured itself, or that some hardware component(s) went bad from sitting still.
