hello all

my current gaming build is

Intel core i5-2400
Cooler Master hyper 212 Evo
Gigabyte P61A-D3 rev2.0
Kingston 8gb ram 1333mhz ddr3 (2X4)
xfx ts series 650w bronze
Gigabyte GTX 970 g1 gaming
HDD 1TB + 500GB blue
Asus VX238H Full HD LED 1920x1080
Cooler Master K380

i think its time to upgrade some stuff as i have the money for it and new skylake is here

after searching for hours i choosed those for upgrading

Intel Core I5-6600K 6M Skylake 3.5GHz LGA 1151

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5

G.skill Ripjaws 4 16GB (4 X 4GB) DDR4 2400 CL15 1.20V Timing: 15-15-15-35

Samsung 850 EVO Series 250GB Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

and other parts will be reused in new the build ....

so what are you guys think ? is there somthing i did wrong with those components . should i be able to place the ram easily on this board using the cpu cooler above ? case problems?

ram speed or timing suggessions ? should i pick Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 X 4GB) DDR4 2400 CL14 Timing: 14-16-16-31 instead of G.skill ? and what is the difference . actually there are many many sets of ram names and brands i can't decide what to get and why

all will cost me 7500 Egyptian pounds thats = 820$

i'm wondering how much boost in performance i will get with this upgrade too

thanks in advance

Solution
Couple of things with the parts.

CPU cooler. The Evo has a RAM height clearance of 37mm and the RAM you chose is 40mm. Not a big deal, you just need to raise the fan up 3mm and it'll be fine. However thats a non issue if you go with 2x8GB like Basroil suggested. If you intend on OCing your CPU, go with a better cooler. The Cryorig H7 is a good one, has no RAM clearance issues and will cool better than the Evo. If you want to go bigger with getting super heavy (or expensive), look at the Cryorig H5. It has a better mounting system than the Evo or H7 and will OC better for around $50.

You shouldn't run in to any case issues or mounting issues with the hardware.

Performance boost. You will get some, but depending on the program it may...

good point. i will stick to this advice thank you

but say if i overclocked to 4 ghz will it be much boost in performance in games like 30% or so ? will it be worth the 820$ or i will not notice much difference ?

or should i only get the ssd and upgrade the GPU when the new gpu's hits the market?

i only have 1 option to choose from

*edit Totally missed the Egypt part. Not sure if Cryorig is available in your market. If not, do try and get a better CPU cooler if you intend on OCing. The Evo isn't bad, but its entry level for that kind of thing.

Solution

Performance improvement will depend on the game, but newer ones like GTA V and Witcher 3 will see very good improvements (2x or more) in minimum frame rates (and smaller but still noticeable improvements in average framerate)
