Will a SATA M.2 SSD work in a PCIE M.2 slot?

I am thinking of getting the Razer Blade Stealth. It has a replaceable M.2 PCIE drive. I plan on getting a base 128 gb model and install a 512gb SSD.

My question is will i be able to use SATA interface M.2 drive like the EVO 850? Or will I have to buy a PCIE SSD?

Its a Razer laptop. I haven't see any post about people installing a sata M.2 drive. They've been mostly using CPIE drives which are too expensive fore me. I would rather take the larger SSD and take the hit in speed that I wont notice all that much than buy the more expensive PCIE SSD.
