greetings,

so right now I've been using my rig for 5 years, here's what I have:

proc: athlon ii x3 440
mobo: asus m5a78
ram: 4gb ddr3
gpu: inno3d gtx 750ti OC
psu: seasonic m12 evo 520 watts
monitor: 19 inch samsung led, 1366x768 resolution

I'm planning to buy a 1080p monitor for my birthday soon.
Should I upgrade my CPU for 1080p? or will I be alright in 1080p with what I currently have?

BTW, I don't play GPU hungry games like crysis and such, the heaviest game I currently play are Project Cars, Final Fantasy XIII lightning returns. The rest is neptunia series, tales series, and other online games like Dota 2.

And if I do really need to upgrade, should I just buy a compatible CPU with my mobo like an FX 6300 or just go with complete system refresh, like buying a brand new intel skylake CPU, mobo, and DDR4 RAM fo my usage?

Thanks in advance.

Your build is fine for 1080p, just don't expect to be hitting 60fps. Your CPU and motherboard are old, but if they still play the games you want then you don't need to upgrade.

If I were you, I'd save your money and go for a CPU, motherboard and possibly RAM upgrade in one fell swoop, but only when your current build can't keep pace with newer games.

I see, so it's better to save money for now and upgrade when the time comes, and when my machine can no longer tackle the games. Yet I can still go 1080p by trading some image quality.
Thank you for the answer :D
