I use this headset exclusively while gaming with friends, so it would be great if I could have surround sound working because the games support it. Sony tech support told me that my PC doesn't support 7.1, but my MOBO says it does and it's a USB connection, so I didn't think that should be a problem. Any idea if this can work or how I need to make it happen?

Depends on what software and the headphone uses for 7.1, if its dts connect it should have no problem working. If its dolby digital live like my old turtle beach x42s for the xbox then your going to have more trouble, I got mine working but it required modified realtek audio drivers. What motherboard do you have?

MSI Z97 U3 Plus LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

I'm not sure if they're running with any additional software other than default Windows 10 drivers.

Well like you said the motherboard supports 7.1 surround, it uses a very similar sound card to the one on my mobo. However it has support for dts connect 7.1 surround, if your headphones use dolby digital live or something else it may not work. I would love to tell you if your headphones support this but sony apparently does not deem it necessary to provide any kind of detailed specs for those headphones so im not sure if dts connect will work them, you can give it shot. If they dont work I may be able to figure out a way to get them working.

When I configure my "speakers," it only gives stereo as an option for this headset. I can't seem to find any kind of drivers for the headset, and I don't know enough about sound settings/drivers/etc to figure it out.

Right click on the speaker icon on your bottom toolbar, select playback devices, right click on your headphones, select properties, go to the advanced tab, click on the drop down menu, is dts interactive 7.1 listed? If so select it and you should be good to go. If not you may need a modded driver I will link you to a step by step video on how to do this if so.
