Lags since the Windows 10 update

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I realized that my HDD usage was almost always at 100%. I turned off 'Show notifications about Windows' and it went down to 0,1 MB/s when I'm idle.

The problem started when I wanted to play a game (in this example GTA V), both the disk and memory usage increased. The guilty app was 'System and compressed memory'.

I turned off some services like prefetch and superfetch and it made the situation very much better, instead of using almost a GB of RAM, system and compressed memory's highest memory usage was around 60-100 MB since then, and I think there was a decrease in HDD usage too. But sometimes when I'm in a car and driving very fast I still get those FPS drops. The game runs at 60 FPS, but when these lags come it drops very low, very rarely it stops for 0,5-1 second. And for example in the online mode of the game this is really annoying, because compared to me everyone else moves, only I'm the one who gets frozen.

So I'd like some suggestions what other services should I disable, or install some kind of apps that improve the gaming performance. I wouldn't like to go back to Windows 8.1 because Windows 10 seems to be pretty comfortable for me, so I'd like to improve it.

My specs:
OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790
RAM: 2xKingston HyperX Blu 4GB 1600Mhz (8 GB, dual channel)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97P-D3
VGA: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970
HDD: WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm SATA 6GB/s

PS: Sorry for bad English. :)

Solution
1. Install Spybot AntiBeacon so as to block as many telemetry features as possible.

https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/

2. Turn off the feature that turns your PC in to a file server for MS benefit

3. While you are at it, would be wise to stop WU from installing Hardware upates

4. Other tips here **some** of which you might want to try, others affect little.:

A web search on "performance improvements windows 10" will bring up oyther ideas which you might consider.
If the update caused a problem.
And depending on what version of windows 10 you have.

Simply use system restore of windows to revert the system back to before the update was applied.

As a note or a quick fix.
Windows 10 handles system memory in a slightly different way to windows 7 for example.

And can be a bit of a pain.

If you upgraded then using system restore as long as you are within 30 days of using windows 10 should have an option to revert to the prior OS used. 8.1 in your case.

At the moment I see in the task manager that 44% of my 8 GB ram is used. I made some screenshots, added up the megabytes, divided by 8192 and I got 12% as result. What's the rest 32%?

System reserved memory.
By windows.
Or any hardware devices that request a reservation of system memory to use.
Meaning windows does not have access to it, only the hardware device requesting the memory reservation, no other programs or games can use that reserved memory.

That eats in to available system memory for other programs to run, or games ect.

See how much is reserved out of your 8Gb.
