Hello! I'm new to this forum...
I've been having a problem with this old computer. The problem: The screen goes black while playing games. It won't give any POST for a few minutes. When I turn it back on after 15 mins, it boots perfectly! I cleaned the CPU FAN and reapplied thermal paste. Didn't help that much. I tried removing the CPU and found that 1 pin was missing. The PC is nearly 11 years old.
Specs:
OS: Windows XP Pro 32 bit
Motherboard: Intel desktop board D845GVSR
Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz (MPGA 478)
1 GB of Memory
Intel 82845G Chipset
Intel i845g On board Video
Local PSU (400W)
I think it is a problem with the PSU because it is very old (11 Years) or is the missing cpu pin causing the problem. Or is the MoBo toast? Please help me! It's really frustrating

Tried a different Power Supply Unit. Didn't help :( Today, windows froze again as usual and I heard beeps every second. Upon restarting, I got 1 long beep and 2 short beeps: "The BIOS also issues a beep code (one long tone followed by two short tones) during POST if the video configuration fails (a faulty video card or no card installed) or if an external ROM module does not properly checksum to zero." Maybe a bad Motherboard. Lost hopes :(

UPDATE: Moved the PC case to to dust the table off. I noticed that there was no POST after that and the pc internal speaker was clicking at regular intervals, NOT beeping. Double checked and confirmed that it wasn't the HDD. Tried re-seating the CPU. It helped. The missing CPU pin was causing the problem. It has been Working nicely for more than 1.5 Hrs now. A refurbished CPU is very cheap in India especially the Pentium 4. Will replace the CPU and then get back to you! Thanks for the help :D
