Ok so, long story short:

I built a pc two months ago with a i7 6700k and a nh-d15, the specs is in my signature. I tought my i7 6700k was getting to hot. Around 70 degrees on aida64 and prime95 v26,6. I tried to reapply the thermal paste many times but it did not help. I sent it in to intel, and they gave me a new one.

When i got the new one back, installed it, and boom 57 degrees on prime95 26,6. I asked someone here on thw forum and they said it was okey, but actually slightly warm.

Because of that, i changed the thermal paste again. The noctua nt h1 that came with the cooler was empty so i used some Arctic mx-4. After reapplying i got around 63 degrees. Six degrees warmer. Then i reapplied again and again, nothing helped. I then set the voltage down from 1.264 (auto voltage) to 1.200 v. I came down to 56 degrees on prime95 v26,6.

If i took down the voltage the first time when i got 57 degrees, i would probably get around 50 degrees, lol

Then i ordered some more noctua nt-h1 to see if that paste was better than the mx-4, but it was not, now it is even worse. It is 55-56 degrees on prime95 v26,6. But when playing some Cs:go for a while, it shoots up to 58 degrees.

What have i done? Why was the temps so good when i got the new cpu but now it's worse and i cant get them back? I know it is not critical temperatures, but why cant i get them lower again?

Thank's.

Most likely because you keep messing with it.
The first install of the second processor was a single layer of paste (and great temps, dont know why you wanted to try again). Each subsequent attempt you are adding more paste and air pockets into the mix. Sure you can wipe/clean it, but that wont get rid of it all.

You see, i am the type of person that want things to be perfect. Every time i have cleaned it, i cleaned it very well, so i do not think it is going to change anything. I used arcticlean, coffe filters and some q-tips.

I fired up some prime95 v26,6 small fft's half an hour ago, and got 53 degrees :) I do not know how it changes so much though. Earlier today she went up to 56 degrees. Maybe because i moved my pc to the floor instead of having it on the desk?
