hey guys I'm thinking of buying a BenQ XL2411Z and I like to record videos at 1080p with 60fps, would that be possible with all games even if the monitor is set at 144htz mode because iv heard it makes it choppy and everything, Say or instance I'm getting 120fps in a game would it still record smoothly in 60fps?. or should i just get a 60htz monitor for recording. Thanks
PS: I use shadowplay

Solution

Theoretically can be some choppiness due to sampling at a different frame rate but...

Keep in mind also that having a 144Hz monitor doesn't mean that your GPU is outputting 144FPS. You record on the computer side and it only samples what the GPU is putting out.

If VSYNC is off then your GPU output might be anywhere between 20FPS and 80FPS as an example.

*Even if it did have some issue which is hard to say, you could always set the monitor to 60Hz, maybe use VSYNC to lock a solid 60FPS.

Other:
It also depends on the recording software. Some have weird issues, or if using only the CPU and not the video...

No, it just picks out 60 frames a secont so its the same as a 60 fps monitor recording

120FPS/60FPS recording?
Just experiment, but again you can set a 144Hz monitor to 60Hz so you don't have to choose between monitors.

so even if the monitor is set to 144 htz I can lock it with v sync even at 144 htz, just don't want to spend a lot on a monitor and not be able to record smooth 60fps videos

Wait so in other words if my computer records it well now, then getting a BenQ XL2411Z Wont change anything except how I see games?, and dosnt effect the recording at all?

I have the same monitor and confirm I have seen no difference when recording, it doesn't make it choppy at all. You just get some extra frames when actually playing :D
