Hi guys..im having some problemsregaarding the pc I want to build...can you guys help me out which is better in your honest opinions...

Haswell Refresh
CPU - i5 4460 Haswell Refresh 3.2 Ghz Quad Core ( $189 )
MoBo - ASRock H97M Anniversary ( $81 )
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB Dual 1600 CL9 DDR3 ( $45 )
GPU - Palit GTX 960 4GB Jetstream 128 Bit ( $236 )

Skylake
CPU - i5 6400 Skylake 2.7-3.3Ghz Quad Core ( $189 ) - same as the i5 4460 price
MoBo - MSI H110M Gaming ( $89 )
RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB 2133 CL14 ( $53 )
GPU - Palit GTX 960 2GB Jetstream 128 Bit ( $212 )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PSU - Seasonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze - ( $56 ) (W 150 x L 140 x H 86 mm)
Case - Tecware Raiden Elite ( $30 ) ( L 390 X W 208 X H 428 mm)

Look here for the case: www.tecwareph.com/#!raiden-elite/y8e9l

Should i go for Skylake with only 2GB for GPU or Haswell, but 4GB RAM GPU? Which is better here?

Also will the power supply fit in my pc case?

VRAM value can be so irrelevant in the actual performance of the GPU, need to know which graphics cards you are talking about. Yo're saying 4GB with Haswell, but you selected GTX 960 2GB with Haswell and there is no information on which Skylake CPU and GPU you're interested in. For me this is quite confusing.

This is not true at all. The GTX 960 2gb vs 4gb delivers almost an equal amount of fps no matter the resolution. It just stutters less in VRAM-heavy games. Far Cy 4 at 1080p is more consistent, GTA V seems more consistent. Just less stuttering, not higher fps no matter the resolution.

this internet of my sucks...thanks for answering btw...may i know why it is tough? what's the deal here? and is the power supply enough?

You are comparing apples and oranges on the cpu side.
The i5 4460 should be compared with the i5 6500 not 6400, adn the better choice is the 6500.
The 6400 has too low base frequencies to compete and the price difference to the 6500 is small enough taht i would never ever recommend the 6400.

The i5-4460 should absolutely not be compared to the i5-6500.

i5-6400 turbo frequency = 3.3 Ghz.
i5-4460 turbo = 3.4 Ghz,

however i5-6400 has faster single core speed.

Very strange comment ''comparing apples and oranges'', whilst in fact, one apple is a newer apple than the other at identical side. I recommend you to do more research before commenting like that.

You do know that, unless tweaked in the bios and if the mobo supports it, not all cores turbo at the same time, right?
The equivalent of the 4460 in the Slake generation would be the 6500, not the 6400.
Correct me if i'm wrong here.

Every motherboard supports the full turbo frequency speed and is always applied by default. The i5-6400 should enable turbo on any LGA1151 socket by default. It's not related to overclocking.

It might be true that one core runs 3.3 Ghz, the second 3.2, the other 3.1 you name it but I'm sure they all should be 3.0 Ghz or higher, which is basically like the i5-4460.

And besides that you get the benefit of DDR4-2133 over DDR3-1600. Proven to make quite a difference aswell mind.

ahhmm..guys so what really is the upper hand here? sorry...i have slow internet connection right now...and thank you guys for answering

will haswell able to play games in the near future (lets say 2-3 years from now) if thats the case (and saying 6400 should not be compared to 4460) then I can go with haswell? or skylake?

Obviously the newer platform is a better choice. Maybe i didn't express myself well. My point was that one should pay teh small price premium and go for the i5 6500 because of the added 500mhz base clock and 300 turbo clock. It's a 10-15% single threaded gain. Totally worth it.

Go with the 6400 out of the two, but, if you can afford it, get the 6500. It's really worth the premium.

either i5 4460 or i5 6400 here..so i guess i5 6400...is the mobo going to be okay? or you guys can suggest a cheaper mobo?

I also found a GSkill 8GB Dual DDR4 for only $48..so $5 cheaper than the hyperX fury but the thing is it is 2400Mhz but my mobo can only support 2133? so what do you guys think?

by purchasing the cheaper gskill ($5 cheaper) and msi h110m pro-vd ($15 cheaper) i will able to go skylake build with the:

GTX 960 4GB or intel i5 6500? :D soo many questions here... im afraid and scared..its my first build..sorry

If it comes down to that, go with the 4gb vodeo card. Games are already pudhing past 2gb, even in 1080p.

Yes, there is. But what is your monitor's resolution?

i have the aoc 936sw 18.5 inches with res of 1366x768

yeah, i guess you could get away with 2gb of vram for a while longer. But the thing is, maybe you'll decide to get a monitor, or you'll hook up your pc to a tv an play on that in 1080p. I dont know. i guess it depends on what your plans are.
Either way, even the 6400 will be able to serve any 960 to its full potential. So i guess its a matter of "future-proofing" on both the gpu and cpu side. Pesrsonally, i like to have space to manouvre so to speak. For ex.: what if my 768p monitor breaks?
