My friend has asked me to help him build a new Home Office PC. It doesn't need to be anything too powerful. He plans to use it for mostly work and kids homework. And of course browsing and movies/music playback. The budget is around $900 including monitor and keyboard/mouse. He would like a small mini tower if possible. I have put together the build below and would like to know what the community thinks.

I went with an i5 so that in the future if he decides to put in a graphics card, he can still get plenty of CPU power. Otherwise I would have just gone with an i3. I am most worried about the MOBO, please let me know if you suggest another mini-itx board.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation. Any opinion on the Mobo and CPU?

Yeah I'd definitely go with the Corsair over the Silverstone. I had the 600W version of the Silverstone and ended up returning it for the 600W Corsair. The Silverstone was only rated up to something ridiculously low like 50c or something where as the Corsair is rated up to 105c. The Silverstone also had a seemingly poor quality 80mm fan that rattled and made annoying noises whereas the Corsair has a nice quiet 92mm fan and they're both the same price.

The 500W is a bit different and does have a 120mm fan but I'd trust the Corsair SF series more.

The motherboard and CPU look great, I wouldn't change them. That board in particular has AC wi-fi, USB type C and an M.2. port so it is great.

No, you have it wrong. 105C is the rating for a capacitor but 50C would be the rating for a PSU.

I was just going from memory when I read some reviews a while ago, I looked it up again and I did misunderstand slightly.

The capacitors in the Silverstone are still rated up to 105c but are of lower quality than the Corsair. For some reason Silverstone state the operating temperature of the PSU as 0-40c which seems concerningly low, especially as the fan doesn't activate until 45c. That was where the confusion was, still though the capacitors are relatively low quality considering the price and the overall operating temperature is worryingly low.

The Corsair is the same price with better quality capacitors but is actually rated up to 50c, I got that mixed up with the capacitors being rated up to 105c.

Sorry about the confusion OP, the general message though is that the Corsair SFX series seem like higher quality than the Silverstones for the same price, at least with the 600W units.
