When HDMI is plugged into the gpu, my monitor goes black for about 5 seconds, then says 'no signal'

I've tried everything I can from updating, to getting new cables, resetting, I don't know what to do anymore but it's pretty annoying.

Any advice will help, Thanks!

May I ask what video inputs does the monitor you are using have.
And can you explain if you have to or are using any video adapters such as a hdmi to dvi connector.

Or hdmi to hdmi on the monitor you have.

Also list the bran of monitor you are using, the size of the screen, and the model number of it.
You can find the model number located on the back of the monitor via the sticker if not sure of the model.

I am using an HDMI to Mini-HDMI cable (cable works, GPU has a mini hdmi port)
The ports on the Monitor are HDMI and VGA.
This is the closest thing I could find to my monitor

Now I see the problem.
It`s a Tv.

Hdmi has a strict resolution table setting.

So the likely reason as to why you get a message of no signal.
Will be due to the existing mode or resolution is selected of the video card.

With some large screen tv`s the Hz range is 50Hz 60Hz or 59Hz.
For Hdmi input.
So if a resolution of 1920 x 1080p is selected for the video card to display.
The wrong selected Hz range may be the cause as to the no signal message.

In windows if you right click on the desktop.
Select screen resolution.
Then click on the advanced setting in blue writing.
Then click on the list all modes tab in the new window or box that appears.

You will see three resolution settings of 1920x 1080p at different hz ranges.
And windows color bit display depth.

Try the 59Hz or each one of the hz ranges to see if it produces an out put signal.
Or try setting a 1920x1080 I, interlaced setting of 25 to 30Hz as an option.

I say this but it depends on what country you live in on the Hz ranges, i am in the uk so there the set frequency options.

Don`t forget if your HDTV is not auto sensing or switching on source inputs.

You may have to manually use the source button on the remote of the tv to switch to the required numbered Hdmi port the computer is connected to on your tv.

I have to do this with my tv even though it has three Hdmi inputs, Vga, Svideo, and scart inputs.

One last warning, on some small and low priced LCD tv`s the Hdmi resolution for 1920x1080 i and only be in interlaced mode.

And for HD in progressive mode it has to be set down to 720p as the progressive resolution to get a signal the tv will detect.

You find low priced tv sets do this.

For me there is only 1 60hz one no 59 hz

From that then I suggest you try a 1920x 1080 i resolution if you have an option of it.
And for progressive mode 720p at 60hz if you have one.

It will tell you that the tv can only produce a maximum of a 1920x 1080 I resolution if you get a signal to the tv.
And can only display a 720p resolution at 60Hz.

The last tv that I bought at a cheap price did this, it`s a bit of a con really.
Would only do a 1920x1080 in interlaced mode.
And 720p for full progressive mode.

Had the same problem as you trying to work out why it said no signal at 1080p.
