Got a pretty old PC and wanna choose a part or 2 to upgrade.

PC specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
MSI MS-7346 Motherboard
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz
(2) 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT (NVIDIA)
931GB Seagate ST1000DX 001-1NS162 SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Got about £300 to spend, mostly wondering if I should either upgrade my CPU or graphics card or both, and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, James.

With your current budget, I would look into a new GPU. Also add a SSD for primary storage.

That being said, your system is quite dated and you are due for a completely new build, as you will be unable to use your motherboard and RAM in a new build.

A GTX 750Ti / GTX950 would be as much GPU horsepower as your system would be able to use, because your CPU is going to bottleneck the bejesus out of more powerful GPUs.

The addition of a SSD would also really improve the overall responsiveness of your computer.
