I am looking at two build options. I do a lot of photo/video editing with Adobe CC. Use anywhere from Nikon footage to 6k Red Epic footage. Budget is around $3000 with possibly adding $2000 in future upgrades (More drive/RAM/GPU's).

Option 1:
CPU: Intel i7 5960x
Mobo: ASUS x99 Deluxe
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2133MHz
GPU: PNY m4000
SSD: EVO 850 500gb
HDD: Seagate 3tb
PSU: EVGA 1000w Gold

Option 2:
CPU: Dual 6 or 8 core Xeon
Mobo: ASUS ASUS Z10PE
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2133MHz
GPU: PNY m4000
SSD: EVO 850 500gb
HDD: Seagate 3tb
PSU: EVGA 1000w Gold

I already have the GPU, PSU and drives in another computer. But if I need more/better drives I am open to suggestions.

What if I wanted to use this mobo: http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z10PED16_WS/
What CPU's would you use then?

Hey, Ninja, I'd be curious in more details. What processor do you have in mind to get that close to the Xeon SI?

Cheers,

Cool! That was the one I was looking at. I had put up a parts list awhile back and another TH user suggested the i7-5930. I'm thinking about it. It's +$200 and about 20-25% better performance. It's a tough call.

Thanks for the response,
- DK

And the low-end Xeon E5-2620 V4 is only $30 more than the 5930. Rrrrr, too many options! It's a tough call.

Thanks for the response,
