I'm looking to do a new build. My current build from 2012 is not terrible, but I really like "new" things and there has been a sporadic issue where my Asrock Extreme 4 has had problems "seeing" the video card at boot up. This has happened since day one and I should have taken care of it 4 years ago, but life got in the way. So my current build is:
My old build: hhttps://pcpartpicker.com/user/longhini/saved/#view=39JYcf

I currently use Photoshop and Lightroom heavily. I need these to be super fast. Secondly, I'm not a hardcore gamer, but when I get time to game, I like superb graphics.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within two weeks

Budget Range: $2000.00 U.S.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Lightroom-Photoshop- Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: My Dell U2415 is new, but I may go with a second that would be better for gaming.

Parts to Upgrade: What would you reuse from my old build? Maybe power supply?

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon & Newegg

Location: Connecticut, USA

Parts Preferences: Intel

Overclocking: When it gets sluggish

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1600X1200

Here is a super nice build. You have plenty left over for a another monitor or whatever. Not all of the discounts are reflected in the final price. Some people will say to not buy a GPU now but wait for Pascal, which could be a few to several months. If Pascal is 20% better, but you get a can get a current card for 20% discount, it sort of washes out unless you want the very best card possible. You only need a minimum GPU for Photoshop (or maybe none at all). This is for gaming. The new SSD will be your C-drive. The old SSD will be your cache and Lightroom catalog.

Oh dear! I thought that was your new build at first! Do you want to reuse the case? If not, do you want a window, a silent case? The SSD and hard drive can be moved over. I'm an air cooler guy. Shouldn't a water cooler be replaced after a few years just to be on the safe side? Do you want another water cooler or would air be OK. The PSU is excellent. We'll definitely keep that.

Thanks for the reply. Silent would be great which is why I went with water cooling last time. I can barely hear this thing when it's running UNLESS under huge load. That being said, I'm open to air cooling as long as the noise is very minimal. I had an overclocked AMD system 10ish years ago that sounded like an AC unit and my wife was not happy! I don't need a window, and would like a new case. Thanks

This build should be an absolute beast and handle any game at max graphics along with being super fast at Photoshop and Lightroom. The CPU is a 6 core monster paired with a liquid cooler that will overclock like a champ and tear through anything you throw at it. You mentioned silence is a plus, so for the case I picked a Silent Base 800. It comes equipped with 3 Pure Wings 2 fans that provide great airflow and silent operation. For gaming, you have a 980 Ti, which is complete overkill for the resolution monitor you have now, and even at resolutions like 1440p or 4K will still perform exceptionally well.

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to add a Windows Key, my bad! It should still cost under $2000 if you just pick up a copy of Windows along with the build.
