Hey, I'd like some help with overclocking my fx-6300 on my MSI 970a g43 board. I'm aware that it isn't the best board for overclocking, but what speeds can I expect to get out of it and how would I go about overclocking?

CPU- AMD FX-6300 black edition
Motherboard- MSI 970a g43
RAM- Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 2400MHz C11 Memory Kit
CPU cooler- Arctic Alpine 64 GT Socket AMD Processor Cooler
Video Card -XFX R7 360 DD 2GB GDDR5
Power Supply Corsair VS Series 450 Watt Power Supply

Thanks. I watched the video that was linked above followed the instructions and managed to get stable at 4.19 (not much, I know) GHz. I will push it further when I get a hyper 212 evo, but what GHz would I expect to get on my current board?

I don't have a stock cooler. Is my current one OK? it's an Arctic Alpine 64 GT rev 2 i believe.

What do you call stable???? What program did you use to stress test it? Also watch your temps very closely.
You might get 4.4 out of that board but watch your temps very close that board is not a very good overclocker none or the 970's are.

That cooler is crap. Nothing wrong with overclocking AMD as long as you have a good board and cooler.

Prime95. It is running as we speak, so I guess I can't call it stable just yet, my mistake. I plan on running it for a couple more hours.

done. What is the max temp I should reach then?

UPDATE: I'll reset bios settings and try again with a better cooler in the future.

The Alpine 64 GT maximizes the cooling performance and minimizes the noise level at the same time. Thanks to the patented fan holder, it just produces just 0.25 sone noise while providing 70W of cooling capacity.

That cooler is not even rated for your 95Watt processor the stock cooler that came with the processor is better.
62 C is about the max safe temp.
